Dans un moment de franchise, M. Urban, le porte-parole du gouvernement polonais, déclare un jour : « Quelle chance nous avons que les Occidentaux ne voient chez nous que l'affrontement entre le pouvoir et l'opposition ! S'ils se mettaient à examiner nos vrais problèmes, c'est alors que nous serions dans une triste situation ! ». Convaincu que, sur ce point, le ministre a raison, Bernard Margueritte met l'accent sur la grave crise économique et même sur la chute de civilisation dans laquelle s'enfonce la Pologne. Il montre qu'aucun salut n'est vraisemblable sans un véritable consensus national et sans une transformation totale d'un système dont le maintien — en Pologne comme dans le reste du camp socialiste — est devenu tout à fait incompatible avec le progrès économique et technologique. Poland 1986 : Reality and Prospects, by Bernard Margueritte
It was with unusual frankness that Jerzy Urban, the Polish government's spokesman, made the following déclaration : « How lucky we are that the West sees the conflict in our country only as one between government and opposition ! If they knew the truth, then we would be in a mess ! » Bernard Margueritte believes in the truth of this statement and he stresses the conditions of grave economie crisis and even collapse of civilization which beset Poland. He shows that a solution to these problems is unlikely without genuine national consensus and total transformation, in Poland and in the rest of the socialist camp, of a System incompatible with économie and technological progress.
