La tragédie que vit actuellement la Chine est-elle un gigantesque accident de parcours ou une convulsion ramenant l'histoire chinoise à son point de départ dictatorial et fermé ?
Après avoir assisté, impuissant en apparence et divisé en réalité, à l'entrée en scène de l'aspiration démocratique, le régime a détruit les bases nouvelles de sa légitimité partiellement reconstruite après la fin de la Révolution culturelle. L'erreur stratégique commise par Deng Xiaoping est immense. Dans cet effondrement intérieur, l'impossibilité d'une dévolution successorale à l'intérieur des oligarchies communistes apparaît pleinement. La stabilisation des systèmes communistes n'est sans doute envisageable qu'au prix d'une glaciation impossible à poursuivre aujourd'hui, mais leur transition ne peut être envisagée sans recourir à l'arbitrage démocratique. The Chinese Tragedy, by François Godement
Is the tragedy which China is now experiencing a colossal accident, or is it a convulsion propelling Chinese history back to its dictatorial and confined starting point ? After having witnessed the appearance of a democratie aspiration, the regime, powerless in appearance and divided in reality, destroyed the new foundations of its legitimacy partially reconstructed after the Cultural Revolution. Deng Xiaoping's strategie error is monumental. In this internai collapse, it is evident that a transference of power in the communist oligarchies is impossible. The stabilization of communist Systems can doubtless only be envisaged at the cost of a freeze which cannot be attempted.
