Résumé anglais |
Both librarians and archivists have been managing the information explosion in ways that are often obscure to those unfamiliar with their occupations. Records Management emerged in the late 1990s as an opportunity to bring their respective practices closer together and to enhance the credibility of their role in overseeing the entire document life cycle, including the application of information management principles to all documents produced by an organization. The present dossier seeks to show that if standards are relatively stabilized, this emerging profession is developing new practices based on hands-on experience. Here we establish the basic operating principles and share a variety of professional experiences : readers can then decide for themselves whether to introduce this highly structured science in their own working environments.
