Résumé anglais “Anticipate!” you hear through the half-open door of the “technology watch house”. Stay aware to anticipate, and you can use those “knowledge nuggets” that your well-oiled process has extracted, filtered and polished to support decision-makers in their choices. That's fine as far as it goes, but once the door shuts, you're left with only a vague idea of the actual process. Strategic intelligence - a.k.a. competitive, economic or business intelligence, sometimes strategic information management and even “technology watch” - is an authentic system for managing strategic information. With its own set of dedicated software, it is indeed a complex and multifaceted discipline, one that is difficult to implement. But it has unsuspected potential, not only as an aid to strategic decision-making but also in RαD innovation and orientation. Will strategic information management services become the shining star of the knowledge and information society?
