There has been an explosion in the number of sources, new tools and new ways to access information and new research strategies. Intelligence tracking practices have been keeping pace with the rapidly changing information landscape of the last few years, especially when web 2.0 end-users burst onto the scene. The author sheds light on the consequences of these developments for intelligence specialists and explores scenarios for the arrival of version 3.0, the “semantic web”.
