L'ÉCONOMIE DU POLITIQUE DANS LES DISCOURS SYNDICAUX, par ODILE CHENAL, MICHÈLE LAPERROUSAZ, MARIE-FRANCE RAFLIN
Pas plus dans le discours cégétiste que dans celui de la CFDT, l'action ne se situe sur le seul terrain de la lutte économique. A la CFDT, l'action syndicale appartient à l'ordre du social et produit le changement de société. L'accession au pouvoir des partis politiques de gauche n'est que l'un des sauts qualitatifs que suppose le passage au socialisme. Si les luttes s'attaquent aux causes du système capitaliste, leur portée est fonction du contenu des revendications. Celui-ci résulte de l'apport par le syndicat d'un vouloir et d'un savoir différents de la réaction ouvrière spontanée. Les conditions d'un tel apport sont la compétence politique du syndicat et sa productivité théorique. A la CGT, le syndicat conduit le mouvement ouvrier à opérer un passage du particulier, la (les) revendications(s) dans l'entreprise, au général, l'unité syndicale, l'union des forces de gauche, moment où l'espace d'action devient politique et où le syndicat s'efface devant les partis politiques, mais c'est au travers de ce mouvement que s'opère un dévoilement du système capitaliste, que se forme la conscience ouvrière et que la classe s'unifie. Si la compétence politique du syndicat est définie de manière restrictive, une telle conduite des luttes suppose pourtant la maîtrise d'une stratégie et d'une analyse politiques. De même la théorie est incorporée à la structure du discours qu'elle organise, son effacement est encore accentué par le fait qu'elle soit donnée comme la simple lecture d'un mouvement historique qui s'impose au « bon sens ».

THE ECONOMY OF THE POLITICAL IN TRADE UNION LANGUAGE, by ODILE CHENAL, MICHÈLE LAPERROUSAZ, MARIE-FRANCE RAFLIN
Neither in the language of the CGT, nor in that employed by the CFDT, is the emphasis placed solely on the économic struggle. In the CFDT, union action belongs to the social order and engenders societal change. The accession to power of the left-wing political parties is just one of the qualitative shifts implied by the movement towards socialism. If action is aimed at the causes of the capitalist system, its scope is a function of the content of the claims made. This in turn depends on the union contributing a will and knowledge different to spontaneous worker reaction. The conditions governing such a contribution are the political competence of the union and its theoretical productivity. In the CGT, the union is bringing the labour movement away from individual action ? claim(s) at enterprise level, to general action ? trade union unity, the union of the left, the time when the field of action becomes political and when the union gives way to the political parties ; but it is via this movement that the capitalist system is revealed, worker consciousness is formed and the class becomes unified.
