Le geste électoral représente un terrain d'observation ethnographique privilégié de l'insertion sociale de l'acte du vote. Loin d'être un acte standardisé, exécuté invariablement par les électeurs, le vote se révèle une pratique sociale investie d'une pluralité de savoir-faire et de compétences pratiques largement routinisées. Celles-ci favorisent sa reproduction dans le temps et dans l'espace et participent largement à la mobilisation électorale. La routinisation observée ? lors d'une enquête portant sur les élections cantonales et régionales du 22 mars 1992 dans une petite commune rurale du Loir-et-Cher ? témoigne d'une institutionnalisation différentielle du vote parmi les citoyens. Village elections. Voting operations in the French cantonal and regional elections of march 1992
The voting operation represents a privileged field for ethnographie observation of the social context of elections. Far from being a standardized act, carried out invariably by voters, voting turns out to be a social practice invested with a wide variety of know-how and many largely routinized practical skills, which favor its reproduction in time and space and contribute to electoral mobilization. The routinization ? observed during a study of the 22 March 1992 cantonal and regional elections in a small rural commune in the Loir-et-Cher department ? manifests a dijferential institutionalization of voting among citizens.
