Alors que le processus de construction nationale palestinien semble en panne, cet article entend analyser l'évolution qu'ont subie, depuis 1948, les concepts de « territoire palestinien » et de « peuple palestinien », qui en ont constitué le fondement. En insistant sur la territorialisation du mouvement national palestinien en Cisjordanie et à Gaza depuis 1993, il s'agit plus particulièrement d'étudier comment les relations entre le centre politique en formation et les « périphéries » à caractère diasporique se (re)définissent : observe-t-on notamment une fragmentation des référents identitaires, ou assiste-t-on plutôt à leur renaissance à travers de nouveaux discours et pratiques ? Nation building, territoriality and diasporisation : the Palestinian case At a time when the Palestinian nation building process seems to be stalled, this article aims to analyze the evolution that has affected its ideological foundations since 1948. These have been intimately linked to the concepts of “Palestinian territory” and “Palestinian people”. Focusing on the anchoring of the Palestinian national movement in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip since 1993, it explores more particularly the way the relationship between the Palestinian state-in-the-making and the “diasporic” Palestinian communities have developed : are we witnessing the fragmentation of the “Palestinian identity” or, rather, its revival through the formation a new set of discourses and practices ?
