Résumé anglais Joffre Dumazedier : Lexical Structures and Complex Significations. Empirical sociology is undertaking more and more the study of vast and complex subjects. The most difficult methodological problem to solve is the elaboration of complex significations which can be treated as single and coherent variables following the process of a behavioral science. The author takes the example of popular culture as an ordered group and sub-groups of interests, types of knowledge, quality-levels, according to explicit criteria. He shows how empirical research can better its possibility of analysis of complex significations, by taking example on structural lexicology in its different process phases.
