Résumé anglais Edgar Morin : The right to reflection. Sociological thinking could usefully be applied to the study of the society sociologists form. This society is presently attracted to two different poles : the traditional structure of academic society and the new structure of technical society : optimal conditions of scientific thought, that is for the stimulation of reflective thinking, of hypothetical thinking, and conceptual organization. The development of research, on a growing rational, and specialised technical basis, implies the maintaining of marginal research, observation on marginal events, and thoughts on fundamental problems. The principle of a twin development can be layed down : on the one hand, organised planified research, endowed with large means, on the other, marginal research and thoughts.
