Le travail de la Commission des épidémies en Pologne fait partie des histoires « heureuses » de la SDN. Cet article comporte deux parties. La première porte sur les acteurs de la politique sanitaire internationale ; la deuxième examine la mise en place de la Commission des épidémies et la naissance de l'Organisation internationale d'hygiène de la SDN. Cet article démontre que l'établissement de la Commission des épidémies de la SDN a été une réponse ad hoc à une urgence humanitaire précise. De plus, la recherche d'une solution à ce problème sanitaire a servi de précédent pour établir les bases et la nature des activités de l'Organisation internationale d'hygiène de la SDN. The work of the Epidemic Commission in Poland is one of the « happier » stories of the League of Nations. This article is composed of two parts. The first pertains to the actors of international health policy ; the second analyses the creation of the Epidemic Commission and the foundation of the International Health Organisation of the League of Nations. The article demonstrates that the establishment of the League of Nations Epidemic Commission was an ad hoc answer to a specific humanitarian emergency. Moreover, the research conducted to find a solution to this problem was used as a precedent and would influence the nature of the response taken by the International Health Organization in future emergencies.
