| Résumé |
A la fin du XIXe siècle, l'⁰glise catholique romaine est confrontée à une diversification des acteurs humanitaires et à la montée en puissance du Comité international de la Croix-Rouge. En 1929, les Conventions de Genève inscrivent dans le droit la prédominance du CICR en lui attribuant notamment l'initiative de la création d'une agence centrale destinée à récolter et à transmettre les informations relatives aux prisonniers de guerre. Durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, CICR et Vatican se retrouvent ainsi sur un terrain commun : le second ne souhaitant pas renoncer à l'œuvre d'information, le premier défendant son quasi-monopole sur celle-ci. Notre article fournit des pistes de recherche sur les relations développées entre les deux institutions dans ce cadre donné et sur l'attitude des ⁰tats belligérants à leur égard. At the end of the 19th century, the Roman Catholic Church faced the diversification of humanitarian actors and the increasing influence of the International Committee of the Red Cross. In 1929, the Geneva Conventions inscribed the predominance of the ICRC in international law, granting it the initiative to create a central agency to collect and pass on information concerning prisoners of war. During World War II, the ICRC and the Vatican thus worked on common ground : while the latter did not wish to give up the information work, the ICRC defended its near monopoly. This article gives some leads for research on the relations which developed between the two institutions in this given area, and on the attitude of belligerent states towards them.
