Cet article se concentre sur les trois principaux axes de la politique extérieure grecque: (i) son intégration au sein de l'Union européenne en tant que membre à part entière et en tant que membre de l'union économique et monétaire; (ii) ses efforts pour jouer un rôle régional dans les balkans, et les difficultés rencontrées en raison des particularités de la région et les positions prises sur un certain nombre de questions politiques la concernant; (iii) La tentative, initiée par le gouvernement, avec l'accord des autres pouvoirs politiques, d'un "rapprochement" avec la Turquie afin de surmonter la longue crise concernant la détermination du statut légal de l'Egée et du règlement de la question chypriote. La conclusion à laquelle parvient l'auteur est que la Grèce s'est alignée sur les autres pays de l'Union européenne, a participé, quoi qu'avec quelques difficultés, à la reconstruction de la région, et a insisté sur le fait que la seule solution acceptable à la crise gréco-turque consistait en un règlement pacifique des problèmes. The paper focuses on three main axes of Greece's international relations: (i) its integration in the European Union, as a full member and as a member of the European Monetary and Economic Union; (ii) its efforts to play a regional role in the Balkans (South Eastern Europe), and the difficulties encountered because of the particularities of the region and the positions taken by Greece in a number of outstanding political questions of this part of the world; (iii) the attempt, initiated by the government in power -with the acquiescence of the other political powers- to a "rapprochement" with Turkey, in order to overcome the long-standing Greek-Turkish crisis in the determination of the Aegean legal status and the settlement of the Cyprus question. The conclusion to which the writer comes is that Greece has succeeded in aligning itself with the rest of the countries belonging to the European Union, in assisting albeit with some difficulties, the reconstruction of the region, and in indicating forcefully, that the only acceptable solution to the Greek-Turkish crisis is a peaceful settlement of the outstanding problems.
