| Résumé |
Il est courant d'accorder à l'Etat et aux politiques d'immigration un rôle prépondérant dans les formes d'intégration des immigrants dans la société d'accueil. On essaie ici de montrer que d'autres institutions et acteurs sociaux jouent un rôle important, en particulier dans le cas de la France, où l'action volontaire de l'Etat central a plutôt contribué à déstructurer les identités « ethniques », régionales ou immigrées. On développe ici le rôle joué par les syndicats ces vingt dernières années dans le recul des discriminations économiques, l'accès à une forme de citoyenneté dans l'entreprise, la socialisation à la classe ouvrière. Les identités collectives dont participent les immigrés sont « à géométrie variable » selon la nature des enjeux et les espaces d'interaction. On ne peut notamment assimiler les processus d'acculturation et de regroupements qui se déroulent dans l'univers professionnel et dans la sphère de l'habitat. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |

The State and its policy of immigration is usually considered as having a major influence on the process of integration of immigrants into the larger society. This essay attempts to show that there are other institutions and social actors who play an important role, especially in the French case, where the action of the centralized state has contributed to the dissolution of « ethnic », regional or immigrant identities. It considers the role played by trade-unions in the last 20 years in the fight against economic discrimination, in the access to a certain equality in business and last in the socialisation of the working class. Collective identities such as those of immigrants are variable according to the nature of the spaces of interaction. One cannot mix together the process of acculturation and the unions which develop in the professional or private spheres. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
