Résumé anglais Analogy is a basic argumentative device. An heterogeneous set of linguistic markers can point towards the existence of an analogical link ; metaphor is a kind, not the only one, of non-marked analogy. In this paper, we mention some basic distinctions between different forms of analogy, mainly analogy as categorization device, analogy of proportion and structural analogy. Then we focus on structural analogy and metaphor. Both are considered as processes through which the language of a Ressource domain (argument domain) is transferred to a Problematic domain (conclusion domain). Metaphor operates instantly, and structural analogy in a step by step, overt process, more open to criticism. The two techniques can coexist in the same passage.
