Résumé anglais |
Why does marxism have such a weak influence in urban geography ? This is not due so much to the object of the study (urban sociology proves the contrary) as to the orientation of geography as a whole : a descriptive discipline, aimed at learning the «real» and repelled by conceptualization. Moreover, marxism has often presented an off-putting image (oversimplicity, sectarianism), and its (abusive) assimilation to communism has accentuated the obstacles. The authors of this introduction are trying to understand the reasons for a non-encounter and they open a debate which continues throughout the volume. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
