La crise au Darfour est plus ancienne que février 2003. Elle s'explique par la montée de contradictions locales exacerbées par la politique sécuritaire de Khartoum, la marginalisation économique de cette région et les effets de l'autoritarisme au Tchad voisin. Le fait qu'elle prenne forme à ce moment illustre les points aveugles de la négociation entre les insurgés du Sud-Soudan et le gouvernement central. The Darfur conflict : the blind spot in the North-South negotiations in Sudan The crisis in the Darfur began before February 2003. It resulted from increasing contradictions in the region, which were exacerbated by the regime's heavy-handed security policies, the economic marginalization of the region, and the effects of authoritarianism in neighboring Chad. The fact that the crisis has emerged at this moment is illustrative of the blind spots of negotiations between the insurgents of Southern Sudan and the central government in Khartoum.
