Partie prenante du dialogue politique intercongolais, la « société civile » n'échappe pas aux turbulences qui se manifestèrent en octobre 2001 à Addis-Abeba. Sommée de se positionner par rapport aux acteurs politiques et militaires, elle est mise au défi de maintenir sa cohésion et son indépendance dans un espace géographique et politique éclaté. Si certains leaders associatifs cèdent à la tentation du passage au politique, le plus grand nombre poursuit, dans des conditions difficiles, un travail de terrain déterminant pour la cohésion sociale d'un pays disloqué. The Inter-Congolese Dialogue: Civil Society Up Against The Wall Engaged in the inter-Congolese political dialogue, the representatives of « civil society » did not escape the upheavals which occurred in October in Addis-Abeba. Instructed to clarify their position with respect to the political and military actors, the representatives face the challenge of maintaining their independence and cohesion in splintered geographic and political space. Although some leaders of associations have given in to the temptation of politicisation, the great majority pursue, under difficult conditions, their work on the ground, essential for the social cohesion of a country on the verge of breaking up.
