La problématique environnementale et du réchauffement climatique a favorisé l'apparition de nouvelles définitions pour qualifier les migrations qui en résultent : « réfugiés environnementaux », « éco-réfugiés », « réfugiés climatiques » ... Non sans une certaine confusion, une intense réflexion est engagée en vue d'étendre le statut de réfugié à ces migrants. Plusieurs obstacles et arguments s'opposent cependant à cette évolution. Parmi ceux-ci, la souveraineté des États constitue le principal point d'achoppement avec des enjeux environnementaux qui, du local au global, sont sans frontières. Source : Éditeur (via Cairn.info) |

Environmental Issues and New Categories of Migrants: from Semantics to Geopolitics Problems linked to the environment and global warming have favored the emergence of new definitions to qualify the migration flows they provoke: “environmental refugees”, “eco-refugees”, “climate refugees” ... An intense reflection, which is not without confusion, is under way in order to extend the statute of refugee to these migrants. Several obstacles and arguments stand in the way of such an evolution.
