George W. Bush et l'ONU. L'Administration Bush a-t-elle pour objectif la destruction des Nations Unies ? Cet article cherche à démontrer que l'Administration Bush n'a ni rompu avec la politique traditionnelle des États-Unis à l'égard de l'ONU, ni visé à son démantèlement. Il s'agit plutôt du prolongement d'un vieux projet, visant à employer l'ONU au service des intérêts nationaux américains. Lorsque ce n'est pas possible – comme cela a souvent été le cas ces dernières années –, l'Administration Bush, comme beaucoup de ses prédécesseurs, est disposée à revenir à l'alternative bien connue qui consiste à déclarer l'ONU inadéquate dans les conditions du moment. George W. Bush et l'ONU. Is the Bush Administration bent on wrecking the United Nations ? This paper will essentially argue that the current US Administration has neither broken with the past tradition of American policy vis-à-vis the UN, nor been bent on dismantling the international organization itself. Rather, it is engaged in a long-standing American project that aims at using the UN to serve its national interests. If it does not – as has often been the case over the past few years – the Bush Administration, like many of its predecessors, is willing to revert to a well-tested alternative of declaring the UN irrelevant for the time being.
