Pendant la guerre d'Algérie, une partie de l'armée française s'est voulue révolutionnaire. En étudiant le Centre d'instruction pacification et contreguérilla (CIPCG), nous montrons qu'il faut saisir cette tentation comme une volonté de transformer radicalement la société algérienne afin de dépasser un statu quo colonial intenable. D'abord centré sur une instruction tactique classique, le CIPCG promeut, à partir d'octobre 1957, cette conception révolutionnaire de la pacification auprès de centaines d'officiers. Malgré la reprise en main de l'armée par le pouvoir gaulliste, il continue à diffuser cet enseignement expurgé de ces aspects les plus radicaux jusqu'en juillet 1961. Promoting a Revolutionary Army during the Algerian War: Arzew's Instruction Centre for Pacification and Counterinsurgency (1957-1959). During the Algerian War, a segment of the French army considered itself to be revolutionary. By studying Arzew's Instruction Centre for Pacification and Counterinsurgency (CIPCG, Centre d'instruction pacification et contre-guérilla), we will show that this revolutionary temptation must be understood as an attempt to radically transform Algerian society in order to go beyond an untenable colonial status quo. Initially focusing on classical tactical instruction, starting in October 1957 the CIPCG began to promote this revolutionary conception of pacification to hundreds of officers. Despite the Gaullist government's success in taking back control of the army, the CIPCG continued to spread this teaching (albeit devoid of its most radical aspects) until July 1961.
