Ce que visait Hiroshima, c'était mettre à genoux les peuples du monde entier devant la toute-puissance scientifique, militaire et industrielle. La célébration quasi unanime de la « nouvelle révolution scientifique » allait sceller dans la tombe des Hibakushas ce fait historique et couvrir un mensonge inédit par son ampleur : un crime contre l'humanité venait d'être commis, ce que la justice et l'histoire des vainqueurs allaient enfouir au cœur des inconscients avec tous les dégâts collatéraux que supposent les refoulements massifs. Or, Auschwitz et Hiroshima ont en commun, non seulement de relever de la même imprescriptibilité morale, mais ont également en partage, ce que j'appelle les secrets de la famille occidentale. Depuis que la modernité orpheline du xixe siècle a accouché d'un nouveau mythe fondateur (la lutte de tous contre tous comme moteur du progrès) et d'une dénégation de l'interdit du meurtre au fondement de toute civilisation (la biopolitique eugéniste), un point final, avec l'aval de la science, a été mis à la primauté de la pensée des Lumières et de l'humanisme classique. The aim of the bombing of Hiroshima was to force the peoples of the world to bow to the omnipotence of science, military power and industry. The quasi unanimous celebration of the “New Scientific Revolution” would seal this historical fact in the graves of the Hibakushas, covering up a lie of unprecedented extent : a crime against humanity had been committed, that justice and history on the winners'side would bury deep in people's subconscious, with all the collateral damages that such massive psychological repression imply. Nevertheless, both Auschwitz and Hiroshima not only fall under the same moral imprescriptibility, but they also share what I term “the secrets of the Western family.” Since the orphaned modernity of the 19th century has produced a new foundational myth (the struggle of all against all as the driving force of Progress) and a denial of the taboo of murder at the foundation of every civilization (the eugenecist biopolitics), the primacy of the Enlightenment and classical humanism thought has been put to an end with the endorsement of Science.
