On a récemment commémoré le deux centième anniversaire de la naissance de Darwin. Au moment où le naturalisme reprend de la vigueur dans les sciences sociales, il n'est peut-être pas inutile d'examiner les tumultueuses relations de la biologie et de la socio-anthropologie sous l'angle des territoires et des frontières disciplinaires respectives. Cet article s'attache d'abord à montrer comment la sociobiologie redevient à la mode. Dans un second temps, il rappelle les premières réticences face à la confusion animalité-humanité tout en montrant ses manifestations académiques contemporaines. On tente, enfin, de tracer les limites et de cerner l'originalité — ou le “ noyau dur ” — des sciences socio-humaines à partir d'une définition de l'accès au symbolique et des sédimentations historico-institutionnelles. The territory of Man. Socio-anthropology against biologies One recently commemorated the two hundredth birthday of the birth of Darwin. In the moment where the naturalism takes again strength in social sciences, it is perhaps not useless to examine the tumultuous relations of biology and socio-anthropology under the angle of the fields and the respective disciplinary borders. This article initially sticks to show how the sociobiology come back in vogue. In the second time, it recalls the first reserves in front of the confusion animality-humanity while showing his contemporary academic demonstrations. One tries, finally, to trace the limits and to determine the originality — or the “ hard core ” — of socio-human sciences from a definition of the access to the symbolic system and historico- institutional sedimentations.
