Agricultural cooperatives are the direct outcome of the 1958 Land Reform. They aim at providing small farmers with structures and helping them modernize their equipment and farming. Until 1974, they essentially played a technical role but the structures provided are now mainly administrative and political. This doubtless makes for modernization but as markets are still controlled by private interests, thé farmers have not been able to pay off their debts. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
