Cet article interroge le concept d'architecture de l'information dans son contexte historique d'émergence et son croisement avec différents champs disciplinaires. Du point de vue des SIC, nous retenons ici deux enjeux partagés à savoir l'organisation des connaissances pour une qualité et une fluidité d'accès ainsi que la référence à la métaphore spatiale déjà ancienne. L'actualité du concept est, selon nous, en grande partie conjoncturel au changement d'échelle et à la focalisation sur l'expérience de l'utilisateur dans son interactivité avec le Web sur différents supports. L'article conclut sur la réalité professionnelle en émergence, soulignant la dimension d'équipe projet rassemblant des compétences diversifiées en technologie, gestion des connaissances et en Web design, ces dernières étant particulièrement plébiscitées aujourd'hui. Information Architecture : which conceptualization ? This article examines the concept of information architecture in its historical emergence and its intersection with different disciplines. From the point of view of the Information and Communication Sciences, we focus on two shared issues: the knowledge organization for quality and fluidity of access and reference to the spatial metaphor, not really new. The renewal concept is mainly about the change of scale and the focus on user experience in its interaction with the Web on different media. The article concludes on the emerging professional reality, noting the importance of the team project bringing together diverse skills: technology, knowledge management and Web design, the latter being particularly acclaimed today.
