Cet article part de l'idée que, depuis 1993, la Chine poursuit une ambition hégémonique et qu'elle veut maintenant évincer les États-Unis dans un horizon rapproché. Pékin a opté pour une stratégie qui est certes multidimentionnelle mais dont l'axe principal est géoéconomique : « cannibaliser » sur le plan géoéconomique les États-Unis et leurs alliés afin de et avant de leur imposer la suprématie militaire. Dans cette optique, un objectif intermédiaire s'avère décisif pour Pékin : enlever au dollar son privilège de monnaie du monde pour l'attribuer au yuan. Antoine Brunet décrit les grandes offensives successives que Pékin, depuis 2001, a déjà déployées pour parvenir à ses fins ainsi que celles qu'il prépare. Nombreux sont ceux qui veulent se rassurer à trop bon compte en tablant sur l'incompatibilité souvent évoquée entre la nécessité pour Pékin de maintenir la sur-compétitivité du made in China grâce à un yuan inconvertible et son ambition de substituer le yuan au dollar. This article deals with the idea that China is chasing an hegemonic purpose and wants to oust the United States in the near future. Beijing choose a strategy which is not only multidimensional but which the main line is a geoeconomic one: “cannibalize” the United Stated in order to and before imposing them a military ascendancy. From this perspective, an intermediate goal turns out decisive for Beijing: deprive of the dollar its privilege of global currency to attribute it to the yuan. Antoine Brunet describes the big successive offensives which Beijing, since 2001, has already spread to reach its purposes as well as those it prepares. Many are those who are clutching at straws by banking the often evoked incompatibility between the necessity for Beijing to maintain on over-competitiveness of the “made in China” thanks to an inconvertible yuan and its ambition to substitute the yuan for the dollar.
