Cet essai montre la compression de deux modes esthétiques antinomiques dans l'œuvre d'Alice Munro. Il traite des stratégies par lesquelles l'auteur fond réalisme littéraire et la tradition du roman médiéval, en interrogeant la manière avec laquelle l'écrivaine force le gothique et le grotesque à s'insérer dans les codes du réalisme, également violenté. Il est démontré que ce bricolage postmoderne soutenu par un dialogue avec des pré-textes adhère au mode transnational de réalisme mythique par lequel il prend sens. I address Alice Munro's compression of two antithetical aesthetic modes, notably the strategies allowing the author to merge literary realism and the ancient romance. Engaging with her wrenching of the Gothic and the grotesque into the parameters of the equally wrenched realist tradition, I demonstrate that her postmodern bricolage buttressed by gestures of affiliation to pre-texts participates in and is illuminated by the transnational mode of mythic realism.
