Cet article expose quelques résultats significatifs d'une enquête de terrain réalisée au premier semestre 2000 sur le dispositif français «nouveaux services, emplois jeunes». Après avoir décrit les caractéristiques socio-administratives de notre population et dégagé quelques portraits sociaux types, nous développons, d'une part, les stratégies différenciées d'appropriation du dispositif par les grands types d'employeurs conventionnels, la prégnance de l'opposition et, d'autre part, nous analysons les motifs du choix des jeunes d'occuper un emploi jeune. Work and employment in new services : a survey concerning the youth employment policy
This paper gives some significant results based on a grass-root survey carried out during the first half of the year 2000 concerning the implementation of the new French policy «New services, youth employments». After the description of the socio-administrative characteristics of our population and having outlined some social standard features, we develop, on one hand, the differentiated strategies for the acquisition of the measures by great types of conventional employers, the pregnance of the opposition, and, on the other hand, we analyse the young people's motives for their choice to hold a youth employment. On the whole, the survey shows that the policy responds rather satisfactorily to the goals. Despite the permanency of some social inequalities, it fights against youth unemployment and finally constitutes a rather demanding start in the world of salaried work. for young people.
