Les auteurs constatent un rapprochement des attitudes politiques des jeunes Allemands des anciens et nouveaux Länder qui n'efface pas des différences de culture politique entre l'Ouest et l'Est. Examinant l'intérêt des jeunes pour la politique, leurs opinions sur les régimes, les institutions et les acteurs politiques, ils notent la spécificité des opinions des jeunes peu instruits, témoignant d'une influence des inégalités sociales. Ils nomment «démocrates critiques» les jeunes alliant une insatisfaction envers le fonctionnement de la démocratie à une forte compétence politique et à une volonté d'agir pour améliorer ce système politique. Young germans' political culture
The authors note a coming together of the political attitudes of young Germans of the old and new Länder which does not erase the differences in political V. O.
culture between the West and the East. Examining the young people's interest for politics, their opinions about the systems of government, the institutions and the political actors, they note the specificity of the opinions of uneducated young people showing the influence of social inequalities. They name " critical democrats" the young people combining a dissatisfaction towards the running of democracy to a strong political competence and to a will to act to improve this political system.
