L'entrée de la Grande-Bretagne dans l'Union européenne a entraîné une profonde évolution, tant symbolique qu'institutionnelle, de sa culture politico-juridique, qui s'est opérée en fonction de deux principes : identification de points communs entre la culture britannique et la culture européenne, et identification d'un gain probable dans le changement. Cette évolution peut être lue à différents niveaux : modification du fonctionnement des partis politiques et syndicats, et création de clivages en leur sein ; gains d'autonomie et de pouvoir de certains groupes politiques et collectivités locales à travers la création de liens étroits avec leurs équivalents dans d'autres pays européens ; remise en question de la société et de sa hiérarchisation ; modification de certains aspects de la logique juridique... British Culture and European Culture : Landmarks of a Political and Legal Evolution.
The entrance of Great Britain into the European Union has lead to a profound evolution of the political and legal culture, from the symbolic as well as from the institutional point of view. This evolution is based on two principles - identification of similarities between the European culture and the British culture and identification of a probable gain to be obtained from these changes - and can be viewed from different levels : political parties and trade unions modifying their ways of working and the création of internal divisions ; political groups and local authorities taking advantages of links with their counterparts in other European countries ; society and its hierarchy being questioned ; some aspects of legal reasoning becoming modified...
