Les comportements démographiques de l'immigration étrangère doivent être interprétés en tenant compte de l'origine culturelle, des caractéristiques socio-économiques et de l'ancienneté d'implantation en France des populations immigrées. L'approche géographique de l'immigration doit également saisir avec précision les modalités de répartition et d'insertion sociale des étrangers dans les milieux d'accueil afin d'apprécier de façon critique les notions de seuil de tolérance, de ségrégation ou d'intégration. A geographical approach to the study of alien immigration in France.
The demographic behaviours of alien immigration must be interpreted in view of cultural origin, socio-economic characteristics and ancientness of implantation in France of immigrant populations. A geographical approach to immigration must also grasp with accuracy the modes of distribution and social insertion of aliens in the milieu of welcome in order to assess in a critical way the notions of "tolerance level", segregation and integration.
