L'article présente trois fonctions essentielles de la pratique de psychothérapie institutionnelle d'enfants : pare-excitation, symbolisation et construction. La place d'une médication psychotrope est analysée comme adjuvant d'une pratique basée essentiellement sur la relation. La thérapie institutionnelle telle que décrite ici agit sur le développement global de l'enfant et donc sur la plasticité neuronale, là où la médication adjuvante n'a, au mieux, qu'un effet régulateur. This article presents three essential functions of children's institutional therapy: “pare-excitation”, symbolization and construction. The status of psychotropic medication is analyzed in a context of practice based on relationship. Institutional therapy, as presented here, has an impact on the child global development and therefore on neuronal plasticity, – where medication has, at the very best, only a regulating effect.
