Les récits de vie ont une influence directe sur notre vie familiale. En fait, on peut même affirmer que les récits « sont » la famille. Quand une famille recomposée consulte en thérapie narrative, c'est qu'elle est coincée devant une impasse inhérente au récit qui guide sa vie. Le thérapeute narratif cherchera donc la zone où les membres de cette famille peuvent bouger dans leur récit. La perspective proposée est la suivante : la famille est « prise » par le problème, enfermée dans un récit. Selon Michael White, « La famille n'est pas réduite à son problème. La famille n'est pas le problème, le problème est le problème. La famille [...] a plutôt une relation avec le problème [...], alors la relation peut changer ». Dans cet article nous abordons également l'importance de la fonction paternelle dans une famille recomposée et l'histoire que nous pourrions nous raconter les uns avec les autres en revisitant la distinction entre le rôle du père et la fonction paternelle commune à tous. Narrative therapy, recomposed families and the role of the fatherLife stories have a direct influence on our family life. Indeed, we can say that the stories “are” the family. When a stepfamily consults in narrative therapy, it shows that the family has attained an inherent limit in the story that guides its life. The narrative therapist will thus seek the zone whereby the family members may be moved in their story. The proposed perspective is as follows : the family is trapped by the problem, locked in a story. The family is not reduced to its problem. The family is not the problem, the problem is the problem. Rather, the family relates to this problem, and the relationship can change. In this article we also look at the importance of the paternal function in the stepfamily and the story that we can tell to each other by revisiting the distinction between the role of the father and the paternal function common to all.
