The article about Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou, a Kurdish political leader, a fighter, an academic, and the general secretary of the Iranian Kurdistan Democratic Party (IKDP), murdered in 1989 by Iranian intelligence, tends to present, with a historical background, the dynamic of the Kurdish national movement within the framework of the Iranian state. The author proposes a general reflexion on the chief's personality in a context of both irredentism and warfare, on his analysis of the Kurdish question, his commitment to Marxism, and his assassination in Vienna.
