Spanning four decades of intellectual life, the interview delves into some of the most central themes of Andrew Abbott's work. It focuses on his critique of the sociological positivism first enunciated in the 1980s. From there, Abbott discusses the role of methods in social sciences, their impact on knowledge, and the implicit epistemology of the US sociology since the 1980s. The interview also offers Abbott a rare opportunity to evoke his theory of the social process, which is still in the making.
