L'objet de cet article est d'approfondir conceptuellement les dimensions qui caractérisent l'orientation entrepreneuriale d'une grande entreprise en s'appuyant sur un cadre théorique éprouvé. Ce cadre conceptuel a été appliqué de manière concrète à EDF, qui constitue un cas intéressant de grande entreprise confrontée aux nécessités et à l'urgence d'un changement imposé par le poids de son histoire et l'évolution rapide de son environnement. Dans une première partie, nous explicitons la notion d'orientation entrepreneuriale avant de décrire dans une deuxième partie l'entreprise et le contexte qui l'a conduite dans la voie du changement. Enfin la troisième partie nous permet de montrer que les choix et les processus stratégiques d'EDF peuvent être relus de manière tout à fait naturelle à travers la grille théorique de l'orientation entrepreneuriale. Entrepreneurial Orientation and Large Firm : Insights From a French Company The objective of this article is to conceptually develop the dimensions which characterise the entrepreneurial dynamic of a French large company by using the entrepreneurial orientation theoretical framework. We apply this framework to EDF which is an interesting case of a big firm facing a complex and changing environment. In the first part of the article, we introduce the concept of entrepreneurial orientation. The second part is focusing on the enterprise itself and on the particular context which leads it to think about and adopt strategic, organisational and structural changes. Finally, in the third part, we show that the entrepreneurial orientation theoretical framework is a relevant and powerful grid to understand the strategic decisions and processes.
