Résumé anglais |
Since 1972 an artistic revival has flourished among the Gogodala of Papua New Guinea's Western Province. Following a full generation of mission-inspired hostility towards the arts of their pre-Christian ancestors, the Gogodala are once again carving "totemic" figures, making dance masks, and racing ceremonial canoes on the local rivers and lagoons. A new longhouse has been constructed, in the traditional style, to serve as the spatial focus of the "Gogodala Cultural Centre". Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
