S'il est vrai que l'histoire racontée dans le "Mahābhārata" est la « transposition épique d'une crise eschatologique » (Georges Dumézil), qui culmine et s'achève dans la guerre où s'opposent les Kaurava et leurs cousins, les Pândava, n'est-il pas légitime de rechercher le point de rupture où se manifestent les premiers signes du drame qui s'étendra ensuite jusqu'aux confins de l'univers ? Ce faisant, on découvrira que les auteurs du poème ont su, là aussi, utiliser avec adresse le système d'oppositions que leur offrait le schéma trifonctionnel. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |

The Prehistory of the Pāndava If it is true that the story told in the "Mahābhārata" is the epic transposition of an eschatological crisis, which culminates and concludes in the war between the Kaurava and their cousins, the Pāndava, it is surely justifiable to seek out the breaking points where the first signs are revealed of the drama which is to extend to the outermost bounds of the universe. By so doing, we will discover that, here again, the authors of the poem were able skilfully to exploit the system of oppositions offered to them by the trifunctional schema.
