Les services hospitaliers pour les personnes âgées à Londres et à Paris. Ce papier considère les services hospitaliers pour les personnes âgées, en comparant ceux de Londres et de Paris d'un point de vue géographique. Des buts politiques comparables sont poursuivis dans les deux pays par des voies différentes, qui reflètent les stuctures administratives différentes pour les soins sanitaires en Grande- Bretagne et en France. A Paris comme à Londres, les services hospitaliers pour les personnes âgées sont gérés comme un système métropolitain et non comme des systèmes locaux indépendants. La structure administrative française est mieux adaptée que l'anglaise à la surveillance et à la planification au sein de la région d'Ile-de- France toute entière, mais il existe un encadrement strict en ce qui concerne la proportion de lits par rapport à la population. En Grande-Bretagne, des mesures plus élaborées sont utilisées pour tenir compte des besoins locaux, mais la division du Grand Londres en ce qui concerne les soins sanitaires rend la planification difficile. This paper considers the provision of hospital inpatient services for the elderly in London and Paris, using a geographical and comparative perspective. Similar policy objectives are being pursued in the two countries using different strategies which reflect the different administrative structures of health care in Britain and France. In both Paris and London, hospital provision for the elderly operates as a metropolitan system rather than as self- contained local service systems. The French administrative structure is better adapted than in London for surveillance and planning within the context of the Paris region as a whole, but is restricted to the use of rigid bed: population normative planning criteria. In Britain, more sophisticated measures of local need are applied, but the partitioning of the London area for health planning makes co- ordinated planning for Greater London difficult.
