La mobilité sociale et géographique dans le sud non métropolitain de l'Angleterre. L'article étudie les principales tendances migratoires affectant le sud non métropolitain de l'Angleterre, les caractéristiques sociales de ces flux entrants et sortants et leurs implications quant à l'évolution sociale dans le sud non métropolitain. Plus de la moitié des migrants vers l'East Anglia et le Sud-Ouest proviennent de la zone métropolitaine du Sud-Est. Ces flux sont caractérisés par une périodicité, liés aux fluctuations et aux changements économiques et sociaux de la région londonienne. Ils traduisent une fluidité sociale. La transition la plus significative concerne les employés qualifiés qui migrent vers le sud non métropolitain en même temps qu'ils s'installent comme indépendants. Les migrations de retraite sont également importantes. Les migrations ont largement contribué au rapide embourgeoisement de la société du sud non métropolitain. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |

This paper examines the most important migration trends affecting the Non-metropolitan South-East, the distinctive features of the social composition of the migration flows to and from the nmse and what do these migration trends and socially distinctive migration flows imply for social change in the nmse. Over half the migrants to East Anglia and the South West come from the South East. Those flows are marked by a periodicity, linked to the changing economy and society of the London metropolitan region and characterised by social fluidity. The most significant transition is that of professional, technical and managerial employees who become self employed as they migrate into the NMSE. Moving into retirement is also very important. Migrations has greatly contributed to the rapid embourgeoisement of the nmse. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
