La frontière nord du Gabon présente un certain nombre de caractéristiques qui la distinguent du reste des frontières nationales et lui confèrent quelque intérêt du point de vue de la géographie politique. En effet, non seulement ladite frontière confronte l'entité gabonaise à deux espaces politiques extérieurs mais elle abrite aussi une intense activité économique informelle. Rarement observée ailleurs, celle-ci est, en grande partie, liée à la triple territorialité de l'ethnie fang et à l'ancienneté des relations commerciales entre la région septentrionale du Gabon et ses voisines du Cameroun et de Guinée Equatoriale. The northern Boundary of Gabon : Populations and political Geography. The northern border of Gabon presents a certain number of characteristics which set apart from the other national borders, and which endow it some interest as far as political geography is concerned. Indeed, the aforementioned border not only confronts the Gabonese entity to two external political areas but it also accommodates an heavy informal economic activity seldom observed elsewhere. That unformal economic activity is mainly linked with the triple territoriality of the Fang people and the ancientness of the commercial relations between the northern region of Gabon and its neighbours, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea.
