Le but de ce travail est de comprendre le phénomène du leader charismatique latino-américain. Nous nous proposons de décrypter la figure de Carlos Menem, politicien argentin qui remporta les élections présidentielles à deux reprises (1989 et 1995). Pour ce faire, nous avons mobilisé un arsenal théorique que nous avons puisé dans la sociologie et plus particulièrement dans la sociologie de l'imaginaire car l'histoire de l'humanité est, comme l'indique Cornelius Castoriadis, l'histoire de l'imaginaire humain et de ses œuvres. This article aims to understand the phenomenon of charismatic Latin American leaders. We will study the persona of Carlos Menem, politician, who served as elected president of Argentina for two terms (1989 and 1995). To accomplish this, we will utilize tools from sociology, especially from the sociology of the imagination because the history of humanity, following the thought of Cornelius Castoriadis, is the history of the human imaginary and its works.
