Dans ce travail, nous nous intéressons aux phrases génériques du français et du serbe dont le sujet est un syntagme nominal indéfini singulier (un N / jedan N). En adoptant l'analyse des indéfinis singuliers génériques en termes de points de vue (Mari, 2008a, 2008b, 2011), nous étudions les contraintes qui pèsent sur l'emploi des indéfinis avec jedan en position de sujet en serbe en les comparant au français. Nous constatons que le point de vue dit des « normes sociales » joue un rôle essentiel dans le choix du déterminant jedan en serbe, alors qu'en français tous les points de vue rendent possible l'emploi de l'article indéfini. The article focuses on French and Serbian generic sentences with an indefinite singular noun phrase in subject position (un N / jedan N). Following the analysis of the so-called IS generics in terms of « respects » (« points of view ») developped by Alda Mari (Mari, 2008a, 2008b, 2011), we examine the constraints on the indefinites with jedan in Serbian and contrast them with those that hold for indefinite singulars in French. We conclude that the choice of the determiner jedan in Serbian crucially depends on the sentence being considered as true in respect of « social norms », whereas in French no such restriction holds.
