Cet article propose une approche réflexive d'entretiens qualifiés de « topographiques », expérimentés à l'occasion d'une enquête portant sur la formation des Saint-Cyriennes, et centrés autour d'une requête initiale : conduire les deux enquêteurs sur des lieux marquants de leur scolarité et commenter ce choix. L'analyse des propos recueillis fait apparaître leur organisation en un récit de socialisation, depuis l'appartenance initiale au groupe indistinct et rejeté des filles, jusqu'à l'intégration de chacune au sein de la promotion et au-delà, de la « communauté saint-cyrienne ». Apparenté au « récit de soi » et sous-tendu par les normes de l'institution, ce récit fait ressortir le lien qui unit l'appartenance à la mémoire des lieux et des interactions qui s'y sont déroulées. This article aims at presenting, in a reflexive way, a specific type of interview which has been called “topographical interview”. This method, designed and experimented on the occasion of an investigation into the socialization of women in a military school, was based upon the demand of leading the two researchers through the camp and of commenting the most significant places. The analysis of the main features of the speech thus collected makes it appear as a narrative discourse, oriented towards the transformation of a female civil group into recognized members of the community. The production of an institutional self seems to result from the capacity of telling a story marked out by events and interactions in significant places.
