France needs to assert its independence in the face of NATO and the European Union whilst strengthening its capability within the framework of the UN, the sole legitimate institution. Besides retaining the nuclear deterrent, we need to re-establish a military service that is the guarantor of the link between the forces and the nation, the expression of the sovereignty of the people.
