| Résumé anglais |
As director of the « Sanatorium Populaire » in Leysin and of the Al Hayat sanatorium near Cairo, René Burnand put into practice his « sanatorial method ». Through analysis of Burnand's work, this article suggests viewing the notion of the therapeutic value of air as a product of the disciplinary structures of a sanatorial dis- cursive order. Indeed, medicalised air is shown to have often been associated with a kind of geographical determinism. In addition, this article explores links between Dagognet's thesis on the air cure and certain of Foucault's writings. Source : Éditeur (via Persée) |
