Depuis la victoire auto-proclamée du Hezbollah sur l'armée israélienne en 2006, les États-Unis ont redoublé d'efforts dans leur tentative de discréditer l'organisation chiite. Étant donné la ressource politique que représente le dispositif social du Hezbollah et l'occasion qui s'offre à lui de le réactiver après la guerre, la stratégie américaine a largement visé à saper la projection de sa puissance dans la reconstruction matérielle du pays. Pour défaire son autorité verticale d'abord, les États-Unis ont contribué de manière inédite au financement de la reconstruction post -2006 et ont soutenu le gouvernement libanais dans sa construction discursive d'un Hezbollah comme « ennemi de l'intérieur » qui s'appuie sur la criminalisation de sa politique de reconstruction. Pour mettre à mal sa légitimité horizontale ensuite, les États-Unis ont multiplié les campagnes de lobbying à travers l'USAID qui a financé les campagnes médiatiques du gouvernement et démarché de nombreuses ONG locales pour concurrencer l'aide apportée par les ONG satellites du Hezbollah dont les avoirs ont été gelés par le Trésor américain. Since Hezbollah's self-proclaimed victory over the Israeli army in 2006, the US has renewed its efforts in their attempt to discredit the Shiite organization. Given the political resource that represents the social apparatus of Hezbollah and its opportunity to reactivate it after the war, the US strategy has been largely dedicated to undermining the projection of its power in the physical reconstruction of the country. To undo its vertical authority first, the United States contributed in new ways to finance the post-2006 reconstruction and supported the Lebanese government in its discursive construction of a Hezbollah as “enemy within” that relies on criminalization of its policy of reconstruction. To undo its horizontal legitimacy then the United States have stepped through USAID lobbying campaigns which funded media campaigns Government and canvassed many local NGOs to compete with the assistance of Hezbollah satellites NGOs whose assets were frozen by the US Treasury.
