Il s'agit d'analyser les divers sens du malentendu, plus précisément envisager le phénomène en tant qu'instrument de manipulation. Si l'échelle du malentendu est large, allant de la simple erreur d'interprétation jusqu'au détournement du sens, ce qui est le plus intriguant et le moins analysé concerne la déformation du sens. Ici, il s'agit de distinguer entre détournement conscient par l'auteur (premier cas) ou l'autre, quand l'auteur n'intervient pas directement dans le processus, mais subit la « déviation » de sa thèse par ses disciples (second cas). In analyzing the diverse senses of misunderstanding, we may, more precisely, envision that such a phenomenon acts as an instrument of manipulation. If the scale of misunderstanding is great, leading from a simple interpretive error to a complete reversal of meaning, what is the most intriguing and the least analyzed concerns the deformation of meaning. Here, the point is to distinguish between one instance where the author's intent is completely reversed (first case), from an instance where the author does not become directly involved in that process, but submits to a “deviation” of his thesis by those who cite him (second case).
