L'emploi du groupement automobile siamois en France en 1918-1919 est fondé sur un malentendu du côté français. Les militaires entendent l'utiliser comme un contingent analogue aux autres, appelé à un certain rendement, tandis que les hommes politiques veulent avant tout flatter l'honneur national du royaume. Du côté siamois, ce contingent est au service d'une farouche volonté de reconnaissance internationale ; il doit contribuer à renforcer la place du Siam dans le concert des nations indépendantes. The use of the Siamese Automobile Group in France in 1918-1919 was based on a French misunderstanding. The military establishment intended to use it as an entity similar to others and rendered more efficient, whereas the political class wanted it more than anything to flatter the national honour of the Kingdom. On the Siamese side, this entity was put into the service of a frantic desire for international recognition; it had to contribute to strengthening the role of Siam in the concert of independent nations.
