ResuméDans son film L'homme qui tua Liberty Valance, John Ford montre comment une société démocratique se constitue et se remémore cette constitution. Nous montrerons que c'est l'intermittence entre visibilité et invisibilité qui constitue pour Ford le secret de cet événement fondateur, marqué par une nécessité simultanée de le celer et de le montrer, de l'ignorer et de le connaître. Another story of constituent power. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance and the question of visibility In his movie The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, John Ford shows how a democratic community constitutes itself, and the way it recollects this constitution. We will show that the secret of the event of a founding can be found in an intermittence between visibility and invisibility, in a necessity both to show and to hide it, to know and to ignore it.
